The aim of work experience is to help prepare students for the transition from education to employment by giving them the opportunity to get involved in the world of work, develop employability skills needed in the workplace and gain first-hand knowledge of what a job within a health and social care setting entails.
We have existing links with a number of health and social care settings who are willing to provide placements for our students. All of these placements are checked and approved for us by DEVELOP; an organisation which assesses the health and safety of work placements and ensures that employers comply with statutory requirements and codes of practice.
Throughout the placement, students will be expected to complete a work book which encourages them to reflect on their experiences and more specifically the care values that they have demonstrated and witnessed through their work. Close contact is maintained with each student while he or she is working to ensure that the placement is progressing satisfactorily both from the student's and the employer's points of view.
