Sport plays an important role in the life of St Thomas More. With a huge variety of sporting activities to be involved in from cheerleading to rugby, athletics to basketball there is certainly something for everyone.

Sports Centre and Onsite Gym

We have a newly refurbished onsite sports centre with a well equipped and modern facilities. We encourage the students to make use of the gym before school or during lunch hours. 

Sports Teams

We pride ourselves on great sporting succeses at St Thomas More. We regularly appear in our town and district finals and celebrate the ongoing achievements of individuals and teams across all age groups.

Sports Colours

The students below have been awarded sports colours at St Thomas More. To have been awarded sports colours the student must have shown:

  • A consistently high level of ability in the sport

As well as a minimum of 3 of the following criteria:

  • Shown commitment in the sport throughout their school life
  • Shown good leadership skills
  • Shown high levels of dedication and determination to succeed in an individual or team sport
  • Attended at least 95% of training and matches/competitions
  • Been a good role model for the rest of the school
  • Shown exceptional sportsmanship and have represented the school with dignity and maturity
  • Represented the district, county or higher

  • Fantastic results for both sides this morning as we depart Norfolk with two wins secured. Makes the long journey worth it!

  • There was also a win for our U18 basketball team who beat Samuel Whitbread 26-19 away . Great result boys! We round off the half term tomorrow with year 7 and 8 netball. Good luck girls!

  • Year 10 football with two wins in two days ⚽️ ⚽️ A 2-0 win in the County cup yesterday against Vandyke followed up by a 3-2 win against Mark Rutherford in the District cup Goals from Catalin and Thomas (Monday) and Catalin, Gabriel and Firdous (today) Well done boys!

  • Tomorrow our U14/15/16 Boys squads head over to Aylsham FC to take on @NorfolkSchFA in our rearranged first fixture of the season Meanwhile our U14 Girls are at Flitwick to host @SCSFA_football Good luck to all teams, do yourselves and your schools proud!

  • Real shame for our Y11 boys who conceded an equaliser in the last minute yesterday and then lost the penalty shootout that followed. They exit the county cup but have a chance to bounce back against Goldington tomorrow ⚽️

  • We've been very slow on posting results but our U16 basketball team made it 3 wins out of 4 last night with a win over Wixams. A great paced game and we always love having students supporting

  • The Boys' and Girls' teams finished 2nd overall in the League Competition Finals yesterday having taken part in this competition throughout the half term

  • Then, Lovett made up for a disappointing finish on Friday by winning his 300m race yesterday. That meant he got included in the Junior team for today's championship. Serena also won her 800m race again

  • First up, well done to Serena and Benji who both won events at the Y7/8 District Championships on Friday

  • Sadly our Year 10 boys lost out on penalties to @CN_PE in the District Plate Final this afternoon. A very competitive game that we led 2-0 in but CN scored a late equaliser and then saved the crucial penalty FT 2-2 (5-4 on pens)
