Year 10
Curriculum Intention:
The course has been designed for topics to be delivered as detailed below:
- To ensure variety in coverage of all main set texts
- To allow students sufficient time to complete component 3 coursework before mock exams
- To provide different foci to allow students to maintain their interest, engagement and enjoyment of the subject
The benefit:
- Students will have more time to revise, consolidate the main set texts
- Students will be given more opportunity in Year 11 to improve memory before final exam using the Learning Scientists skills and methods

Outcomes:
- Students will able to analyse how media language, through its form, codes and conventions communicate meanings
- Students must be able articulate how the media portray events, issues, individuals and social groups
- Students will also understand how the media industries' processes of production, distribution and circulation affect media forms and platforms
- Students will be able to identify how media forms target, reach and address audiences, and how audiences interpret and respond to them
Students progress will be tracked:
- Through essays submitted as homework; timed essays in lessons
- Through practical work completed in lessons
- Through class based discussions and AFL in lessons
- Through improved student data / marks
