Welcome to your future at St Thomas More
Welcome from the Director of Sixth Form
We prize and celebrate our Sixth Form Leaders. We believe in your gifts, values and talents and we have much to look forward to with you as a central part of our community. You will stand out as an individual in our Sixth Form with smaller class sizes and personalised tailored support for your learning and future pathways.
St Thomas More Sixth Form prides itself on offering a wide range of academic, vocational and extra-curricular opportunities for all its students. Appropriate programmes are designed for students in consultation with tutors and careers staff. Teaching and Learning is good with access to a supervised study centre to smooth the transition to level 3 studies, mentoring students in how to make use of their supervised study time.
We offer a bursary support programme to students from lower income families to support with public transport to school, books, resources and out of school excursions. Through partnerships with the Connolly Foundation and the Harper Trust, we are able to offer University bursaries for outstanding academic performance, commitment to the life of the school and to support students where financial considerations may be an obstacle to University study.
To achieve our high standards, the school expects a high degree of commitment from its students. In exchange, the students should feel an entitlement to high standards from the school. This forms the basis of a successful relationship between students and the school. We look forward to our Sixth Form.
An Introduction into Sixth Form

Former students - where are they now?
St Thomas More Sixth Form shaped me into the individual I am today, it helped me develop my own opinions and build my character.
With the help of the teachers around me I discovered that I wanted to pursue a career in the media and so I landed myself an apprenticeship with the BBC and now I am training to be a digital journalist at BBC Radio 1 and 1xtra. - Patryk Wojcik
During my time at St Thomas More, I always felt the environment was suited to enhance my learning and was supported by teachers throughout my process of applying to university and preparing for A Levels.
Often when I had queries, I was able to approach the teachers freely and they strived to ensure my needs were met. Applying to medicine was a long process with interviews and entrance exams along the way and so the school organised several sessions with doctors to prepare me the best I could to overcome these challenges.
Currently I am in the third year of medicine at King's College London and am looking forward to a career in medicine. - Noel Biju
I am in my third year studying Chemistry at Christ Church, Oxford, which is an experience I have thoroughly enjoyed so far. St Thomas More really prepared me well for the university application process, by providing lots of help with personal statements and interviews and great support from the staff. - Amy Rizzo
After completing my A Levels, I went on to study Motorsport Technology with Automotive Engineering at the University of Hertfordshire.
Alongside the three year degree, I became involved with a project called Formula Student which is Europe's most well established Engineering competition. This project had the same principles as Greenpower, but the racing car was to be designed and built totally by the students. I gained a vast amount of knowledge and understanding of the engineering world as part of Formula Student and graduated in June 2019 with a First Class Honours degree. I have since found employment with a small Automotive Design Consultancy that specialises in active aerodynamics, window regulators and mechatronics called MarchantCain. - Matthew Davies
I truly believe that most of what I have achieved to date stems from the support and encouragement I received from STM. I am the first generation to attend university in my family - this was particularly challenging when deciding whether or not to apply to higher education as I felt I didn't know exactly wht university could offer.
STM enabled a vision that I could not foresee - I was encouraged to communicate with ex-pupils for insight, be ambitious in my course choices and to not let my own doubts be a barrier to what I could achieve.
From STM Sixth Form, I went on to study at the University of Leicester (2015-2018). I graduated with a 2:1 classification in LLB Law.
I am working full-time in a Regional Business Support role at Health Education England, Birmingham. I have continued my education part-time at the University of Law, Birmingham where I am studying the Legal Practice Course (LPC). The LPC is the vocational course required to bridge the gap from undergraduate studies to the role of a trainee solicitor. I am currently in the application process to secure a junior solicitor position by obtaining a contract in Birmingham. - Chanel Quigley
