CORE INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
GCSE Examination Board: OCR
Content.
This is a short GCSE course, designed for all students in years 10 and 11 studying for one lesson per week.
The examination consists of one theory paper at either higher or foundation level, covering the following topics:
* Computer systems - components and types of system
* Input and output devices
* Storage devices and media
* Introduction to communications:
* Networks and the internet
* Data - types and terminology
* Information management and effects of IT:
* Legal issues, implications, health and safety
The course is predominantly practical-based and involves the student in producing a number of mini projects during the two years. These will constitute the coursework element of the subject.
Assessment:
Examination: 40%
Coursework: 60%
