Sixth Form
Dear Students and Parents,
At St. Thomas More Catholic School we try to make every effort to promote the best possible opportunities for all students to combine their personal and academic development beyond the age of sixteen. Many more students are now staying on to continue their education because realistically they are facing the challenges of the future and have realised the value of extended full time education and its associated qualifications.
Entry into the Sixth Form is a big step; and one that should not be taken lightly. The Sixth Form at St. Thomas More offers a large range of courses and we strongly recommend that a great deal of discussion takes place prior to any final decision.
At St. Thomas More we offer an "Open" entry policy into the Sixth Form so long as students;
a).......are able to qualify to the required standards set by the courses,
b).......are able to accept the discipline of school life.
c).......have demonstrated a commitment to learning and study,
d).......have the willingness to contribute to the life of the school and accept responsibilities.
A Sixth Form course not only offers a chance to improve the quality of your examinations but also allows you to attain greater maturity, confidence, perception and judgement.
As a Sixth-former you will have your own part to play. You must have a serious commitment to work hard; you must play a far more active role in your lessons and you must start taking greater responsibilities for your own education.
If you are prepared to accept this type of commitment the Sixth Form can be the most rewarding part of your education so far.
