Content.
This course is centred on design and problem-solving skills using pupils' imagination, knowledge and understanding of communication skills, materials and technology, within the field of graphic products.
Pupils are expected to develop a wide range of graphical skills from basic sketching and drawing to formal architecture, engineering or technical illustration pieces. Quality work is essential as accuracy is a major requirement of any working drawing.
Computer aided design techniques are available for some parts of the course, and pupils will also develop some 3-D modelling skills.
The course also aims to develop an understanding of CAD/CAM, systems and control and mass production techniques. The use of IT skills will be encouraged.
Assessment: Either Foundation: Paper 1 & 3 - 40%
or
Higher: Paper 2 & 4 - 40%
and
Coursework Paper 5 - 60%
