Sport plays an important role in the life of St Thomas More. With a huge variety of sporting activities to be involved in from cheerleading to rugby, athletics to basketball there is certainly something for everyone.

Sports Centre and Onsite Gym

We have a newly refurbished onsite sports centre with a well equipped and modern facilities. We encourage the students to make use of the gym before school or during lunch hours. 

Sports Teams

We pride ourselves on great sporting succeses at St Thomas More. We regularly appear in our town and district finals and celebrate the ongoing achievements of individuals and teams across all age groups.

Sports Colours

The students below have been awarded sports colours at St Thomas More. To have been awarded sports colours the student must have shown:

  • A consistently high level of ability in the sport

As well as a minimum of 3 of the following criteria:

  • Shown commitment in the sport throughout their school life
  • Shown good leadership skills
  • Shown high levels of dedication and determination to succeed in an individual or team sport
  • Attended at least 95% of training and matches/competitions
  • Been a good role model for the rest of the school
  • Shown exceptional sportsmanship and have represented the school with dignity and maturity
  • Represented the district, county or higher

  • The Year 7 boys football draw 1-1 @LincroftSport it has been great to see so many boys rotating in and out of the team and how much they have improved as the term has gone on.

  • Year 11 County Cup Final update: STM equalise from the spot, STM then get a goal disallowed. @SamWhitPE then regain the lead. Fun 2 minutes!

  • The Year 8 girls are County Runners Up, losing the final 3-2 to a good Arnold side. The girls have been fantastic all year.

  • Good luck to our Year 11 GCSE PE cohort who are today completing their practical moderation. Miss Clark has them prepped and ready.

  • Two BIG games for STM tomorrow as our year 8 girls and year 11 boys both contest football finals. The girls face Arnold in the county cup at Flitwick whilst the boys take on Samuel Whitbread in the District at Kempston. Good luck to both teams. Expect greasy pitches! ☔

  • Hugely disappointing result for our U16a losing 4-1 to @IcknieldPE in the County Cup Final. Not the performance we wanted by any means and will hope for a change in the District final next Tuesday!

  • Tough afternoon for the Year 8 girls futsal team at the South East Regional Finals, 4 losses, all by the odd goal. So a superb effort up against some really strong teams. Focus now turns to outdoors and the County Cup Final.
