2016 GCSE Exam results

We were extremely pleased with our 3% rise in 5A*-C incl English and Maths.  82% A*-C was achieved by the English Dept, which in a climate of exam turmoil is amazing.  Average point scores for individuals and exam entries have all risen, and 3 and 4 levels of progress are showing an increase on last year's results again both in English and Maths. Many students have quite simply performed excellently which means they have more than secured their A Level choices.  So many have done well, but some of the top scorers were:

Pelin Morgan 9 A*, 2 A
Riccardo Mazzeo 9 A*, 1 A
Dario Mongiardi  8 A*, 2 A
Naomi Hayes 7 A*, 3 A
Darius Moghtadaii 7 A*, 2 A, 1B
Ifra Ahmed  6 A*, 4 A
Kyle Barron   5 A*, 4 A, 1 B
Stephen Popland 5 A*, 4 A, 1 B
Zannah Lindley 5 A*, 4 A, 1 B
Cai Keighley 4 A*, 7 A

2016 A Level Results

Head teacher Alison Wilshaw said: We are very pleased with the rise in A-level results this year at St. Thomas More, with the proportion of students achieving an A* or A grade going up to over 50%! The average point score per entry has also risen by well over half a grade per exam result, boosted by the increase in high end grades our students have achieved. A number of subject areas have seen improvement in their exam outcomes, with some student progression from GCSE scores landing them in the top 25% of the country. Many students have gained entry to their first choice universities with the overwhelming majority of those who wanted to go on to study for a degree being able to do so. So many students have done very well across both A-level and BTEC subjects, but some of the top scorers were:

  • Mario Colapietro
  • Shabaz Malik
  • Nathan Stobbs
  • Kierra Barratt
  • Jacob Frederick
  • Monica Fitzgerald
  • Jordan Carver
  • James Davies
  • Emily Hearn
  • Anya McLoughlin
  • Jacob Frederick
  • Suraj Ram
